Hello and welcome to my online portfolio page!
My name is Madeleine Balcombe. I am a 22 year old trainee journalist, studying MA Magazine Journalism at Cardiff University. I graduated from a three year BA degree in Journalism, Media and English Literature in July 2023 with a First Class Honours.
I have a passion for lifestyle journalism, and hope to pursue a career in this field. My skills include news writing, feature writing, podcasting, subediting, researching, interviewing, basic teeline shorthand.
I have created this website as a place to share my published pieces, to write independent blog posts, and to develop my journalism portfolio.

From local lifestyle magazines, to student-led media, my portfolio consists of the articles that I have written and that have been published outside of the work on my blog.
Additionally, my portfolio also details the experience I have within the journalism industry, from attending journalism workshops with well-respected names such as The Guardian's Coco Khan, to creating and publishing my own digital magazine.

I created the 'Living My Best Life' blog at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. What began as a hobby to curb my lockdown boredom quickly became much more than just this. I found great joy in the process of writing, publishing and promoting my own articles, and writing this blog quickly fuelled my passion for lifestyle and arts journalism.
On my blog, I have published numerous articles about life, travel, food and music. I hope you enjoy reading!
