QUENCH MAGAZINE

DEPUTY EDITOR'S NOTE #5

Issue 193 of Quench Magazine followed the theme of 'Collaboration.' This issue was also my last as Deputy Editor. With that in mind, my fifth Deputy Editor's note celebrates everything that we achieved at Quench in the academic year of 22/23; all of which is testament to the team's creative collaboration and strong sense of camaraderie.

THE DIVISIVE POTENTIAL OF SOCIAL MEDIA

In this article, I reflect on the role that social media plays in today's society. I reflect upon how it has changed since I first started using it eleven years ago, considering why platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Twitter seem to be perpetuating hateful and divisive rhetoric above anything else.

DEPUTY EDITOR'S NOTE #4

Issue 192 of Quench Magazine followed the theme of 'Union.' This theme is one that resonates deeply with me, especially as my time as an undergraduate is beginning to draw to a close. In my fourth Deputy Editor's note, I reflect on the sense of unity that life at university encourages, and the importance of the friendships that emerge as a result of this.

DEPUTY EDITOR'S NOTE #3

Issue 191 of Quench Magazine followed the theme of 'Feeling.' I love this theme because of its complexity and intimate nature. Feelings are subjective and self-contained; they differ for everyone yet they are a universal experience. In my third Deputy Editor's note, I reflect on the feelings that come with a new year and a new academic term, encouraging people to embrace these feelings with open arms.

DEPUTY EDITOR'S NOTE #2

Issue 190 of Quench Magazine followed the theme of 'Place,' a personal and somewhat complex theme. In my second Deputy Editor's note, I consider what 'place' means to me, reflecting on my hometown of Essex and the connotations that come with it. I also consider the differences between places and the sense of place that you can create.

DEPUTY EDITOR'S NOTE #1

Issue 189 of Quench Magazine followed the theme of 'Independence'. This issue marked my first as Deputy Editor, and with this came my first Deputy Editor's note. As I reflected on the theme of Independence, I  reflected on my time at university so far and the beauty of this newfound freedom.
